email from Scottoiler "For the vSystem:- We don't have a standard guide published for the Gladius yet, however the vacuum connection is the same as the SV650 (I've attached the guide for this). The reservoir should be able to be mounted to the frame in the area highlighted on the attached picture, and the dispenser should fit on the bobbin mount, again shown in the attached 2nd and 3rd pictures." Not certain it's as completely accurate but hopefully the dealership in Sheff can help. Went in & spoke to a chap in the service team - popped home & took off the air filter box (had fun trying to reach the front jubilee clip (3mm allen - need a long armed I think - ended up using a flexi driver with a torx bit - fun :smt013 - ebay I think unless anyone knows a supplier) as per advice & still couldn't find owt on either carb. Sent him some pics. Waiting for feedback. I'll not let this beat me but he did make me think twice re just carving into the vac pipes I've identified.:smt019 p.s. what is the best for cleaning chain - someone mentioned gt85? |
Re: Scottoiler fitting.
FYI they're not called carbs. Possibly throttle bodies? but your gladius has fuel injection which definitely means no carbs.

As you may have guessed, I'm winging it so thanks to the corrections. Seroiusly, I'd much rather you put me right than let me muddle on ;) |
Re: Scottoiler fitting.
No worries ;)
I resisted last time, or probably just didn't get round to correcting you. As you say, you can sound all knowledgeable & stuff now when you contact the dealer/scottoiler. ;) |
Re: Scottoiler fitting.
Cool, maybe the Scottoiler and a lube tube then. Nice! :-P

Re: Scottoiler fitting.
Well my local dealership are a fountain of useful information (NOT).
x2 visits (1st visit was my fault service staff don't work weekends) & x3 emails (had to chase up my request after not hearing back for days) and this is the TOTAL amount of advice I got. "Hi John, vacuum parts are underneath the throttle body. Sorry there is no workshop manual available for sale yet. kind regards Steve." I get the feeling, although they sell & fit the Scottoilers in house, they haven't fitted any to a Gladius yet. Either that or they are angling for me to take mine in so they can charge £120 for the prviledge. Well, I think I'll buy a spare vac hose when I buy the Scottoiler/bisect the line & just 'suck it n see' (scuz the pun). I'll create a post if it works with some shoddy pics for any other Gladius owners wanting to lube their chain the lazy way. |
