Talgarth seems a pretty sensible meeting point if the ride will be going that way anyway. I wasn't going to go down the A479, but it only adds something silly like 3 mins (depending on traffic) to turn off onto the A479 at Llyswen & hit Talgarth from there.

Just not too early please. 10-11am would be good, if not a little later... depends on route really.

If planned route is too long, may have to scrub some of it out... head towards Aberystwyth the mountain road via Elan valley, but take the A44 back to teh A470 and back down to Builth etc from there.... will see what distances get thrown up first!

the rac one does upto 4 or 5 vias i think. you have to choose advanced options or something like that

Stick a route into google maps & you can drag & drop as many via points as you like.

EDIT: VB, click here, then just drag the blue line to the route you want, it'll tell you the distance etc.

Scroll, or zoom in/out to look around.. stop points as yet to be confirmed.. ignore whats on the route, as it had a mind of its own and took some doing to let me choose which way to go!
Start off at Abergavenny, all to fill up with fuel at either petrol station in Abergavenny or crickhowell.. I want everyone on an even starting of fuel, as we do head off into no mans land as it were.. not that many petrol stations where we are going!
along A40, turn off A40 near Tretower, and head up towards Talgarth, very very nice biking road... catch teh A470 just off Talgarth and take that to Rhayader, we will then head off down the Elan valley... and stop at the Elan Valley visitors centre.. situated at the bottom of the first resevoir in the valley... may take a fuel stop along the A470 between Builth and Rhayader..
once people have had fag/pee break at Elan valley pit stop, we will head off for a handful of miles until we get to the last resevoir of the valley... we cross over the top of it to park ont he other side, fag break.. and pee for those who want to pee in the bushes.. then get ready to go over the mountains...
headtowards Devils bridge, then towards Aberystwyth.. aim for the marina.. and get to the sea front.. fag/pee/food stop... admire other bikers bikes etc... then after that grub stop, head off down the coast, and take road off to Lampeter.. minding which one we take, as one goes through Llanddewi Brefi..... and we dont want any of you aquiring signs there.... get eventualy back onto the A40, head to Llandovery and stop at the West End cafe....... again, ery popular bikers cafe... more food for those who want it... or coffee etc.. then its the A40 back to Abergavenny bus station... for a whopping 170 mile round trip...
if required, can try to shave a few miles off this, but cant really see how without by passing the good bits...

Glad people think the route is good...

As for those who have been along some sections of those roads, Im sure they will vouch that these are some teriffic roads...
tricky sections in the Elan valley, more to do with having to concentrate where you are going... some brilliant views there, but do take your time! lol

This looks like a good run, only downside is the 4.5-5 hrs is would take me to get there!!!

May be up for it though, will see what I'm working on the Friday. If I'm on a day shift then I'll travel up in the evening and camp on the fridy and saturday nights, if not then I'll just camp on the saturday.

Pencil me in though nothings definate till it gets a pink pass!!!
