Pointy restriction methods?
Hiya,
i have seen a few ECU restrictors for sale that fit a K3 recently, mine is restricted but seems to have a throttle stop not a different ECU (only opens about 1/3 to 1/2) is this normal? Thanks IPH |
Re: Restrictor
Hi,
I have k5 and the go slower washer in too along with the throttle stop, which dose that exactly, only lets you open half of it , but it still rev's up fully if you have a long enough road to wait for it. HTH |
Re: Restrictor
Hi,
Newbie question here so be gentle :study: Just collected a Curvy last night. All seems fine on a short test ride in a 30mph area :D How do I tell if it has a restrictor kit fitted, what / where does a restrictor go (is it in the ECU, or an engine / exhaust bolt-on ?) I had a quick search but didn't see any definite answer. thanks folks  |
Re: Restrictor
you will feel if it has a throttle stop on it, and if its an ECU restriction, you'd need a decent long straight road, and the restriction will kick in about 8K rpm and you will really feel the bike just stop revving and acceleration will become non-existant.

Sounds like I'll be able to tell more once I find a decent bit of road. cheers  |
Re: Restrictor
Well you can test the throttle stop without having the bike running ;)

Re: Restrictor
A curvy wouldn't have ECU restrictors as they are carbed aren't they? I think the restrictors to a curvy are washers in the inlets - as Tom says, you'd feel that a throttle stop has been put on even without the engine running

and thanks :) its good to know its normal :P |
Re: Restrictor
If it does an indicated 120...pretty sure it wouldn't be restricted! :P on private roads of course :D.
Curvy has the washers :) no ECU restriction! |
Re: Restrictor
a restricted bike should do about 90... mine seems to do an indicated 100 tho ( again, private land :P )
not complaining tho :D |

Re: Pointy restriction methods?
mine dose 95 mph on the flat, once i pop the head up 90mph :D

Re: Pointy restriction methods?
Mine will just touch an indicated 110mph, and thats restricted, but after 90 it has no power, and extra throttle just makes more noise and makes the bike vibrate more.
