The carb'd models ran from 1999 to 2002; in 2003, suzuki changed to fuel injection. It is ppossible to get an injected engine in there, but the injection system requires some more space - you can raise the tank a little I beleive, but its a bit more involved work

ASH why the bleedinell would you fit EFI?

Any engine will fit.
99-02 fits directly.

03-06 engine, you need to change rotor, stator, intake rubbers and block PAIR ports and do something with oil cooler (either remove, move or fit different downpipe to clear it).. That lot allows you to fit the late engine in and use your existing carbs and ignition setup.

Stay away from 07> with twin plug heads.

Didn't say the OP had to. I suggest it is possible and I also state it is more work.

Some people like a challenge though :) It has been done before

Most definatly, keep it simple and there'll be less mistakes :)

They did, didn't do anything useful though it was just for economy and makes it more complicated.
