Pointy engine or crank cases

As per the title, I need either an entire pointy engine (without running gear) or a matched pair of crank cases, as soon as possible really!

Cheers

Ok YC I believe i've read you say before that there are slight differences between curvy and pointy cases; what are they? Do they mean I cannot transplant my pointy internals and top end into them?
Are your cases an original pair?

Re: Pointy engine or crank cases

Yes my pair is original :-P

The differences in the casings involve the venting of the crankcase in between the sump and the crank area. The hole is much smaller on the later models to negate the pumping oil issues the early ones have. Early stuff has a splash plate there. Of course this will be included as pointy does not use one AFAIK.

Other difference is curvy as stock has no oil cooler, you can use yours or not, it doesn't really need one for normal use IMO. Need to check in greater detail the location and fitment of the cooler hoses if you are to use it.

I have it on very good, probably the best around, authority on SV's; that the pointy internals can be transplanted into the curvy cases. (Cheers zadar). I will check in greater detail about the splash plate if you're interested.

Cosmetically, they are the original black cases, there is some paint flaking but no major alloy rot. I will check for damaged threads/surfaces anywhere but I don't remember finding any. Pics can be posted?

Ok thanks for your help YC, but i'm going to put this on hold for now as i've sourced a whole engine. I may get back to you in the future though, as if I transfer my current internals into good condition casings I'll have another working and complete engine...would be a lovely engine to stick in a go-kart ;)
