Cam chain adjusters
I took the bike out yesterday and its started to sound a little cam chainey.
I am going to replace the adjusters, I have seen ones that you set manually, I think they were called ape adjusters? Are these any good, or should I ask please could somebody reccomend a good set of adjusters that would fit my 2000 curvy. |
Re: Cam chain adjusters
k3 ones are recommended i think-do a search on here it was mentioned not long ago

Re: Cam chain adjusters
Yup K3 or K4 ones go straight on and will do the job much better than the standard curvy tensioners; the K5 on ones won't fit tho as they use an oil feed.
I want to do this same thing; I'm gearing up to have a shot at checking my valve clearances when the time comes and want to try replacing the tensioners then... |
Re: Cam chain adjusters
how easy are these to fit?
Is there any way of removing mine and checking for wear? can I tighten them up? I'd much rather try and sort them out than replacing them |
Re: Cam chain adjusters
What's up with yours?
Taking them off is easy, it's holding them back to bolt back in that's the ticklish bit. I am not convinced with manual ones, lots of stupid people just tighten them up until it shags the camchain. |
Re: Cam chain adjusters
In that case I will go for the ones of the k3 model.
Is there a special tool that is required to fit them? |
Re: Cam chain adjusters
