what is it with you sv owners and engine rebuids/replacements,either the sv engine is a very unreliable and not long lasting,or you lot dont ever top up the oil or change it,i know i run what can only be described as a fleet of bikes but my old b6 has 54k on the clocks and the engine has never been touched, and much the same story with the other bikes, apart from 2 strokes the last engine i rebuilt was a honda cb750 f1 1975 vintage and that was when i put the drive chain through the crankcases when the horse shoe link came apart, and some 100k or more later i have never had a engine letgo

Ah I got this engine cheap too but front cylinder knocking, not too much, I have my fingers crossed its just shells.

99% of the time its certain folks not topping their oil up that causes SV engines to go pop.

There are plenty high mileage SV engines about.

I find fiddling with engines theraputic too

Well if the gearbox dogs didnt have metal fatigue I wouldnt have needed to do mine. Some of us keep an eye on the level of the liquids in our machines
