De-greasing tank paint
I've got some tech-grip to put on the bike (a bit like stomp grip) & in the instructions it says de-grease tank paint with carb/brake cleaner. Just wanted to double check it's OK to use this on the paintwork as I'm a bit wary?

Re: De-greasing tank paint
Just a suggestion, take of the pillion seat and try it on a bit of paint under there or under the main seat.

Re: De-greasing tank paint
Zippo lighter fuel will do the job and is safe , or you can use Isopropyl Alcohol .

i use engine degreaser on my paint and its always been fine, just make sure you wash it all off with pleanty of water afterwards. brake cleaner should be fine too.

Re: De-greasing tank paint
As long as it is Isopropyl Alcohol you will be fine , I work in an optronics company and we use Iso on glass and plastics as it`s oil based , evaporates quite quickly , leaves no marks or grease behind and doesn`t damage any of our protected surfaces :D
I used Zippo lighter fuel to desticker my Orange mountain bike frame before applying fresh Decals , worked a treat , didn`t damage the paint and was available from local stores . |

Re: De-greasing tank paint
Test it on a safe area first just in case they have anything else in the mix as it were , but I`m confidant that you are good to go :D

Re: De-greasing tank paint
Test it on a spot under the tank if you are not 100% sure.
