Harley Ferguson Riders, Do we...

Following on from Stu's Blandit (Bandit) thread ... I felt this was a more poignant question ...

Harley Ferguson riders, Do we ... Love them or Hate them?

I've met loads. Some are top blokes and some are total tossers. I guess that you could say the same about litre sportsbike riders.

Of course, all SV riders are top blokes (& blokettes)!

I don't have a big problem with them, but they do not return "the nod" as much as other types of bike rider, unless you are on a cruiser yourself in spite of what some (usually cruiser riders themselves) claim to the contrary. I don't like the moody faux-Hell's Angels attitude some of them adopt either. Of course, some cruiser riders are great, just like any other bike rider sort, will stop to help you when you break down etc. They also seem to "stick to their own" more than other sorts of bike riders at meets, although again of course there are exceptions. I found in America that there seems to be less of a divide between riders of different sorts of bikes here, apart from a small core of Harley Riders who ignore anyone who isn't on a Yank bike. I suppose in America, to a lot of people a Harley is just a "normal bike" whereas over here they are trying to make a statement to some degree by buying something that is, in most departments, vastly inferior to Jap equivalents costing half as much.

Talking of the nod, over here we nod in a vertical way sort of like nodding yes but while riding in uk I've noticed you guys nod by slanting your head to one side. Is that a fashion thing?

Hahaha good one. In my case it's true as I did too much subaqua yesterday. Looks real cool though and to confess I started doing the same nod since.

You wouldn't ride faster than us over here though, lots more dangerous to do so here mate. When we get home from a trip abroad we secretly sing 'welcome to the jungle' in our helmets :smt020
