suspension going off?

How do you know when your suspension is going off and wearing out? Mine seems to be getting too stiff. When i corner at low speeds over bumps, the bike gets unsettled alot more than it used to. Its as if my suspension is hardening up. I think its the front end.

Is there a mileage at which your meant to replace fluids in the shocks?

Think its getting close to front end swap time...either that or new bike, but im almost sure i want to stick with the SV instead of changing to a ninja or vfr.

Shocks do deteriorate, I don't think shock on the SV isn't rebuildable.

Maybe get some progressive springs and a GSXR shock or something.

But if it's the shock, I thought it lost it's dampening and got all wallowey.. have you checked fork seals and the like? Tyre pressures etc all make a difference..

As they wear they tend to become softer. Then again yours could be so soft it's landing on the bump stops too easily and thus feeling too hard.

Fork oil and springs isn't a hard job, but it's also possible rear linkage has seized. Does the rear bounce about freely?

I think you're wrong, IIRC, it isn't rebuildable.

It's not, and why would you bother anyway, they don't work properly when new.

Pump your tyres up, cheaper and an instant fix! :p

IU think its the front forks though. Does it die in the same way?

Yes, the oil loses its viscosity with use and you lose damping force.

Depending on use, it helps to change the fork oil every few years. The rear shock goes off, i didnt realise how bad mine was until I rode a 6000 mile bandit. I'll be sourcing a new one (GSXR one probably to save dosh), and as others have said the damping unit in the SV shock is not re-buildable (although the spring can be replaced).

How many miles on the bike?
