Clutch / generator cover gaskets

K3 pointy - do you need to put any kind of sealant on these paper/metal gaskets or do they just fit straight over the dowels and whack the cover on?

Haynes doesn't mention any sealant but I thought I'd ask.

No sealant, just get the existing surfaces nice and clean before you refit with new gaskets.

I use a small peice of green pan cleaning pads from the kitchen, works perfectly to clean the mating surfaces.

Ok, and how about the o-ring seals for the coolant channels to the water pump? That says use suzuki bond - what's a good (cheapish) alternative?

If the O rings are in good condition I wouldnt bother, I didnt last time I replaced gaskets. A smear of vaseline should ensure they get a good seal to start with.

Ok cool, cheers guys.

Finally got my engine back in the frame, bit confusing trying to work out where all the pipes and wires go but I'm getting there with a combination of haynes / microfiche and a process of elimination :)
