Vibration under braking
Similar to http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=107342 this thread, on my K3 750 GSXR front ended bike (a '00 SV650s), when I brake a little I can feel something from the disc, and when I'm trailing the brake fairly hard into a right hander there is a massive, huge vibration from mainly the right hand disc. Now I've just changed discs and pads and the problem is still there- it was there before and I put it down to the disc.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance guys |
Re: Vibration under braking
Have you checked the wheel run out and balance? Didn't you have a small off recently at Lydden? Is it possible the front tyre has been moved on the rim? If they're all OK I'd probably check the forks next.

Re: Vibration under braking
or both sets of discs could be warped, check them with a dial indicator

Re: Vibration under braking
+1 warped disc

Re: Vibration under braking
If it's warped discs you'll feel the lever pulsing under straight line hard braking ..

Re: Vibration under braking
Ive done the same on my SV/GSXR, i warped several sets of disks, could also be wheel bearings. All depends on if you can feal the brake lever pulse or not.

Re: Vibration under braking
I agree in that it sounds like a warped disc, at low speed you will feel a pulsing through the lever where as at higher speeds it feels like a harsh wobble/vibration.

Re: Vibration under braking
Could be your bearings?

As a precaution lift the bike onto a front a rear paddock stand and check for free play. |
Re: Vibration under braking
I had a knackered wheel bearing which would only cause wierdness under braking. Not what I would call "massive vibration" though.
