Silly question from me on rear brake pedal
 

Hey all

A quick dumb question from me but I'm trying to raise the height of the rear brake pedal on my curvy SV

So, undo the locknut at the bottom of the thread connecting to the lever, and adjust the nut at the top of the thread to move the pedal.

However by the top nut is the rubber cover sealing the master cyclinder and every time I move the nut the cover twists and springs the nut back to the original position when the nut is released.

I can wind the locknut tight again with the pedal in position but the cover is twisted which can't be good for the seal.

Any one know how to adjust the pedal and stop the cover twisting?

You need to try and stop the rubber bit twisting by holding it with your fingers whilst you turn the part that goes into the master cylinder (very fiddly, I know).

i dont mean to sound funny but do you think its a good idea, the last thing you need is some inadvertant rear braking while cornering . just a thought

The rod isn't connected to the piston, (thus seals), it just pushes against it, so turning the rod won't damage the seals.
To adjust if the rubber gaiter is stuck on the rod, remove the lever clevis and turn the trunnion in the appropriate direction.

Good evening all.


Try squirting a little silicone lube or similar, (MATRON) under the edge of the rubber boot where it sits around the adjuster.

Great stuff, I'll give them ideas a shot. Cheers all!

I won't be raising the lever a huge amount but hopefully this'll mean I won't need to do gymnastic ankle movements anymore to work the brake lol!
