PVC tube for sorting front preload
 

having removed my emulators (requiring cutting the stock spacer) I now need to sort out the preload. Is PVC tube ok for this? Assume there would be no issues with strength? Anyone know what size I'd need off the top of their heads?

Am I right in thinking that you are removing the emulators for good?
and if so, were the damper rods not drilled out to allow the emulators to work correctly?

I've seen a few threads on this on other sites/blogs, and it would appear that so long as it is schedule 40 it ought to be okay. I've got some 32mm waste pipe waiting to be cutdown to length (when it stops raining) id:32mm, od:36mm which I'm hoping will do the job.

Please feel free to tell me I'm wrong - it'll save me finding out the painful way!

I've not long fitted some Ricor Intiminators (similar to emulators). I needed to shorten my stock spacers but just in case I wanted to revert to stock suspension I decided to go the plastic pipe route and make some new spacers. I purchased some really solid rigid 32mm grey PVC pipe from my local koi carp/aquarist supplier. It's pressure pipe, very tough, easy to cut and not affected by fork oil.

I paid a couple of quid for half a metre of the stuff - ended up using a couple of inches!! Should be easy to find locally with Google.

if your's is equiped with preload adjustment screws, you may likely find that the plastic tubing, being thicker, interferes with the spring clip that is on the bottom of the preload adjuster (inside the fork tube cap).

AZ Pete is dead right - I had to fit some slightly smaller clips as the original ones push the spacers out of line slightly.
