GSXR Front end - speedo problem

Hi,
I have a GSXR front end conversion on my bike and so i had to put a Hall Effect gear tooth sensor on it to get my speedo workin again. It's been working grand for the past 6 months but yesterday the speed reading starting jumping all over the place and today it was working fine but then stopped working all together. I checked the sensor and magnets and they are all still tightly fitted. Any ideas as to what the problem is? Loose wiring / water messing everything up?
Thanks for the replies

Yea id probably say loose connection/water ingress, not sure how but you might be able to check it with a multimeter if youve got one. How have you connected the sensor to the wiring loom?
