Starting prolem after changing 'bars.
Hi all!
Yet another curvy problem here... I have recently done a bar mod by way of which I have replaced the clipons on my 650S ('00) with proper bars to get a better position.. It shortly developed a strange problem.. It wouldn't always try to fire up when I press the starter button. It seems that opening/closing the starter circuit (the red on/off button) and trying a couple of times eventualy gets the job done and it fires up on the first time it actually attempts to. Seems like there would be a loose contact somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. I have rechecked the contacts around the controls, but they all seem fine... There is no blown fuse, as then it wouldn't try firing up at all. How would I go about checking if the clutch sensor says that it's fine to fire up? Any ideas in general? |
Re: Starting issue
Clutch switch is the first place I'd look, as with anything that's been disturbed it's the obvious place to go back to, if you have a Curvy you can bypass the switch to obviate the problem - but don't forget the bike will now start in gear and lurch forward.
Dirty starter button contacts are not uncommon too. |
Re: Starting prolem after changing 'bars.
Bridge the clutch switch to test if it's that. I usually just stick a bit of wire in the 2 female plugs.
