Converting Curvy S to a Naked?
As per title really, finding the S too much for my back and knees but can't bear to part with her as so nice and only 5500 miles on 2002.
Has anyone ever done this and can anyone list exactly what is needed to do the job? Don't want to hack existing parts incase I want to reverse the job and definitely don't want to sell and buy another bike. I believe you can swop bars to raise a pointy but a curvy? Away for 3 days now so all replies will be gratefully received when I get back. |

Its a stress mate, easier to just swap the bike but here goes...
Think that is everything. |
Re: Converting Curvy S to a Naked?
I agree with what Grinch has said needs doing to convert it to a naked, but why do you want to go to all the trouble of making it a naked.
Just change the top yoke as Dan suggests and fit higher bars. If you do this, then all you need to change are the throttle, choke & clutch cables. Plus of course longer brake lines. Matt Yokes on the forum makes these comfort kits for the Sv and gives orger's 25% discount I think. See the comfort kits here http://www.streetfighterstore.co.uk/sv_650_s/123 To lower the footpeg position buy some of these plates and use them upside down. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT A cheaper way would be to buy a N model top yoke and buy the bars seperately. Curvy S model is harder to convert as there's less room in the fairing gap |
Re: Converting Curvy S to a Naked?
Just back and read your replies, thanks very much. I can see that my idea of converting to a naked is too much hassle and the 'Comfort Kits' available may be the answer.
Has anyone here actually bought and fitted a kit to a Curvy? The kit includes the required brake line but with regards to throttle, choke and clutch cables the text suggests the original can be used, is that correct? Finally, the 're-profiling' of the screen to get full lock; any idea just how much hacking is required? Thanks again. |

Send Mattyokes a PM he'll answer your questions. If you click on the Community list at the top, it'll give you a Members list, look for Matt under M :p
Plus he'll tell you what the current discount code is for his shop If you don't get an answer straight away to your PM then I think he had some family problems, so he's not online as much as he usually is |
