SV650S comfort kit fitted - clutch cable problem.
Hi all, I've just fitted a comfort kit supplied by Matt from Streetfighter Store, very nice it is too. I've done away with the fairing altogether and fitted a set of Renthall's. My problem is the clutch cable, it's very tight on full lock, the 90 degree metal sheath on the handle bar end seems to hamper it quite severly. I've tried 3 or 4 differing routes and taken it out of the guide just under the tank but, I cant get it to how I would like it. I've spoken to Matt who says they've done many curvy 99 model conversions without any problem and suggested I post this thread as a fair number of you have this conversion already. Can anyone out there tell me the optimum route for the clutch cable please
Thaks in advance Andy. |
Re: SV650s Comfort Kit
Can you straighten out the elbow enough to give clearance?
Fitting Renthals to my K2 naked & may have the same problem. |
Re: SV650s Comfort Kit
When i put my coversion kit on i routed the clutch cable to come out of the frame by the coolant resevoir bottle, up the side of the bike, around the out side of the left fork leg, up over the yoke and hey presto... no probs
You might want to cable tie something around the clutch cable so it doesnt mark the stonking yoke hth |
Re: SV650s Comfort Kit
A clutch cable for a naked is a bit longer.

Re: SV650S comfort kit fitted - clutch cable problem.
I didn't like any of the many cable routes I tried. I ended up swapping it for a DL650 cable (£10 from Wemoto) which if anything is a tad long.

I'm selling my bike in the classifieds on here with pics of the comfort kit. Have a look AT PICS AND SEE HOW I ROUTED MINE. i NEVER HAD PROBLEM. touched caps lock key and can't be bothered to edit

Re: SV650S comfort kit fitted - clutch cable problem.
I have a pointy but I unclipped the cable from inside the frame and routed it OUTSIDE of the fork leg , the 90 degree bend rested very close to the Yoke but it wasn`t tight . Since then I have fitted a naked one as a replacement due to the age and amount of action the old cable had seen , the original one should still be fine though .

I think I'll go with a replacement from a naked version, seems to be the way to go. Thanks for taking the time. |

Re: SV650S comfort kit fitted - clutch cable problem.
I fitted a LSL conversion to my 1st curvy and had problems with the original cable being too tight and it eventually snapped at the metal sheeve at the handlebar end. Fitted a naked model cable and that was fine.
