Checking front electrics
The other day I nipped into Teco's for something and when I got back out I noticed the little light above the main headlights was still on, even though the ignition was off. Steering lock was on even.
I turned the ignition to the ON position, turned it back off and the light went out. Has only happened the once so far that I have noticed, and I brushed it off. The next day (or was it same day) I was riding along and I noticed the High Beam light on my dash was flashing on and off intermittently. Obviously couldnt keep staring at it as I was on the road but I didnt notice it again after that. I do ride with my lights on day or night. I am concerned that the light(s) are going to stay on again, me not noticing and coming back to a flat battery. Since this is now 2 odd things happening around the front of my bike I thought it might be best to check it out. I did a quick visual check and although the loom looks a bit grubby in places, I cant see any chafing/breaks. I have a multimeter but have no idea how/where to test :) Runs ok as far as I know, no known problems. Any advice? |

dont own a curvy myself i'm afriad... |
Re: Checking front electrics
I had a similar problem on my 1st curvy. The rear wiring had shorted out when it rubbed on the front seat mounting bar. What I had not realised, it had melted the insulation on the wiring to the handlebar switch and eventually caused the side light to come on all the time the ignition was on. I partied and reinslated the wires and this cured the problem.
