Timing advice?
Im rebuilding an engine and I'm up to the putting it back together bit. I have been told the timing advice in the Haynes manual is suspect.
Anyone know where I can download the official manual as all the links I found on the Org were dead. Or alternatively can someone post the info from the Suzuki manual? Cheers |
Re: Timing advise
Yep the edition i got from the library was dodgy, its obvious as the marks it tells you are there aren't.
filestube.com search 'sv650 manual' its there :-) |

Ok can someone look at the pictue and confirm the timing marks are aligned correctly. These are the REAR cylinder at TDC for the rear, I confirmed TDC for the rear by looking at the timing marks on the front cylinder.
I suspect Im slightly out or its just cause the CCT isnt in. When I move the In cam one tooth back and tighten it up the timing mark 2 is always in this position Thanks for the help |
Re: Timing advice?
That is wrong. First you don't set timing on TDC, you set it at F mark. Second intake cam 1R arrow has to be aligned with head.

Re: Timing advice?
Sorry set to F (I thought F was TDC)

Re: Timing advice?
mmmm my book says 1R alighned to head is front cylinder not rear, I'll have anpther look tomorrow

Re: Timing advice?
R is tdc for rear but F is used for cams. That also looks like front intake cam on rear cylinder and why nothing aligns.

Ah crap I wonder if the cams from my scrap head has gotten mixed up with the ones from the good head. |
Re: Timing advice?
Hard to tell on picture but that looks like A stamped on cam (in middle of cam) which is front intake.
