Has anyone stubbied a Scorpion can?
As per title. Has anyone stubbied a Scorpion can? Got one for my new Gixxer but it looks far too long. Same can as photo:
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...s/P1010966.jpg I stubbied my old Viper no problems but the rivet strap on these Scorpion cans look like they are separate to the end plate. Just wondering if anyone had any experience of doing one and does it follow the same principles ie, drill out the rivets, cut the can, put the end cap back on and re rivet? It's a brand new can so don't really want to bugg*r it up  ps I'll post some photos of the new bike when I have given her a wash. Only got her last night. HPI totally clear, but it's definitely been down the road. A few more marks than I first thought. Still a bargain for what I paid. |
Re: Has anyone stubbied a Scorpion can??
Dan, I did and I didn't :)
My sv scorpion gained a dink in it on rideout while parked so I drilled the rivets and took it apart. But I ended up hammering dent out to a good finish so put it back together again :) |
Re: Has anyone stubbied a Scorpion can?
+1. It came apart and went back together fairly simply.

Excellent. I'll give it a go then.
Cheers. |
Re: Has anyone stubbied a Scorpion can?
You should be fine with it.
But if you make a mess of it theres still a Yoshi Tri oval can up here in Scotland going cheap :-) Still not been put up for sale yet. |

Phil. Can you remember what size rivets you used? The ones I used on the Viper were too big diameter wise. I need to order some.

Re: Has anyone stubbied a Scorpion can?
You can also cut a section out (where the strap will go) then weld it up and you can't see the weld because of the strap. Not as neat as drilling out rivets but works just the same

3.2x6mm grip length is 1.7-3.2mm and 3.2x8mm grip length is 3.3-4.8mm. Didn't give a toss about the viper on my curvy but I want to make a good job on the scorpion. In fact I'm a bit worried about cutting the can as I'm not sure I'll get a good finish where it's been cut. |
