Tyre wear opinions please.
OK..so I know I need new rubber, however this set of Avon Storm Ultras have done around 6-8k and I wanted opinions on the wear on the front. I appreciate the rear has a harder compound in the middle which helps prevent it squaring off as quick, however the front has worn a lot more and almost appears to be worn slightly unevenly, with seemingly more wear on the RHS (as you sit on the bike).
The tyres were new when I did the Gixer front and rear suspension mods. Thoughts please? http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...d/IMAG0509.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...d/IMAG0510.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...d/IMAG0511.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...d/IMAG0512.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...d/IMAG0513.jpg |
Re: Tyre wear opinions please...
Think the wear you are reffering to has something to do with the camber of the road. Of course I could be talking out of my ****.
My car tyres did something similar |
Re: Tyre wear opinions please.
The camber could contribute, but not as much as roundabouts...

Huh?! There's only so far you can lean over when travelling in a straight line up and down the same M-way every day! lol
Seriously though, I always buy the tyres in pairs, the last pair were standard Avon Storms without the dual compound rear, on a completely stock suspension set up. The rear was well squared off and the front was nowhere near as bad as the one above. This set were put on when I did the suspension mods and I was just wondering if the harder compound on the rear has meant it has lasted a lot longer than the previous and therefore the front is noticeably worse, or whether the suspension changes may have affected the wear on the front i.e. loading it more (or maybe just encouraging me to brake harder)? |
Re: Tyre wear opinions please.
I was led to believe the original Storms and even the Azaros were a dual compound tyre.
I may also be talkin swollox |
