'Tour Max' reg/rec
Hi all, my R/R is labelled "Tour Max" - is that OE, or has some previous owner already sorted it?
Cheers, Dave. |
Re: 'Tour Max' reg/rec
Not OE

Re: 'Tour Max' reg/rec
Sweet - one less thing to worry about I guess :) Thanks :)

Re: 'Tour Max' reg/rec
Nothing is bulletproof. Cheap chinese aftermarket may be worse than stock.

Re: 'Tour Max' reg/rec
I guess you're right. It must have been done for a reason I suppose. I'll pop a multimeter on there anyway, see what's what :)

Re: 'Tour Max' reg/rec
My cheapo multimeter doesn't seem to have an Ammeter (unless I'm just missing it!), anyway, voltages are:
DC at the battery: - Lights off: - - 1500RPM = 13.8v - - 5000RPM = 13.6v - Main bean: - - 1500RPM = 13.4v - - 5000RPM = 12.6v * Unregulated no load AC = 80v @ 5000RPM (Haynes says '60v +') * Haynes says to check with main beam on at 5000RPM and the spec range is 13.5-15.5v so I'm a bit low but is it a problem? I have no particular electrical problems that I know of, though she sucks down several hours of juice from the optimate once every few weeks. During the winter I was a little concerned about a bad smell when using the heated jacket and gloves, but I guess it was something else (the jacket bedding in, ACF50 burning off or something) that was making the stink, cos the wiring around the reg/rec all looks good. Cheers, D |
Re: 'Tour Max' reg/rec
Tourmax are good aftermarket if its any piece of mind, was dubious when I fitted mine but asked around a bit

Re: 'Tour Max' reg/rec
Sweet, I think I'm gonna assume I'm fine unless I get any actual signs of a problem, it's not mega mega low after all.
