Caliper Bleed Nipple
Dont flame me for this, but does the bleed nipple on the front caliper loosen by turning it clockwise or anti-clockwise? Im sure its clockwise but I dont want to force anything.

Re: Caliper Bleed Nipple
Righty tighty, lefty loosie.
Never "tighten" it, just nip it up an 1/8th of a turn. A recent bit of good advice given to me was to remove the nipple then apply a wrap of PTFE tape to the thread. It makes bleeding the brakes easier as no air gets sucked back in via the thread, for even more ease if you dont already have one - pop down to halfords and pick up a brake bleeding valve = perfectly bled brakes everytime First time! |
Re: Caliper Bleed Nipple
You shouldn't get grief over this mate, good on you for asking rather than snapping it off and having more problems. As Owenski said it is a normal thread so undo as normal,

Re: Caliper Bleed Nipple
Bugger. Mine is stuck well tight then!

Re: Caliper Bleed Nipple
they're really brittle too so I wouldnt try forcing it.
Try heat etc first. |
Re: Caliper Bleed Nipple
What are you trying to undo it with?
Only asking as a six sided socket would be better than a spanner for example. I always start it off with a six sided socket, as they are not massively strong |

Re: Caliper Bleed Nipple
I tried opening it first with a spanner. It was that hard it managed to span the spanner! I better check I have a small enough socket

Re: Caliper Bleed Nipple
Any idea on size?
I can check but most likely have one if you want to pop over one eve. Ste |
