Problems - Clutch and Gears
A quick couple of questions -
When I pull the clutch lever in with the bike in 2nd gear should it then free wheel like I have it in neutral? I have been trying to bump start the damn thing all day (with no success) after fitting the new Reg/Rec. (Waiting for the trickle charger I ordered off of eBay to arrive.) Should it be as easy to push in 2nd gear with the clutch in as with it in neautral? Could it be a poorly connected Reg/Rec causing my starting issues? Also I noticed that the rod from my left hand footrest is slightly bent and the gear selector lever is clashing with this rod. Can I just straighten this out by hand? Is it easy to remove if I need to persuade (hammer) it flat? If the bike is supposed to free wheel with the clutch lever pulled in what do I need to do to make this happen? I don't know if it's due to a complete lack of electrical power but I imagine that it's nothing to do with that? Thanks! |
Re: Problems - Clutch and Gears
So I jump started it from the battery on my car.
Zero problems with the clutch or gears once it had started up. I will definitely need a new on of those rods though that moves the gear selector up and down? I don't know what it is called. It runs behind the foot lever. If any one has one please pm me a price? |
Re: Problems - Clutch and Gears
I don't think the gear selector rod costs that much new, same rod is fitted to various models
You can get a part number and price from here http://www.cmsnl.com/products/rodgear-shift_2552519f00/ Maybe try your local dealer if you have no luck finding used |
Re: Problems - Clutch and Gears
The clutch disegages the drive, so it will be free to role with the clutch in. Regardless of the gear.
