How much Wynns Dry Fuel to use?
Hi,
As the temps are dropping off quickly now i want to be prepared and not suffer from carb icing on my regualr trip down the motorway. I can get wynns dry fuel from halfords but all it says is use all of it in your fuel tank but that with cars in mind... Has anyone had any experience with this product and how much should i be using in my tank? DJ |

Pro FST is 100:1, so 100ml to 10l.

Re: How much Wynns Dry Fuel to use?
Not had my SV through a winter yet -- is carb icing a real problem with this bike (1999 curvy) ?
what kind of temperatures does it start to be an issue ? But there again I guess speed / wind chill will affect this ... Is pro FST the best way to beat it ? |
Re: How much Wynns Dry Fuel to use?
pro FST works but is expensive, so is premium fuel.
I've used isopropanol before, was looking at selling it by the pint on here but still checking it's not going to eat carby parts. |
Re: How much Wynns Dry Fuel to use?
isopropyl alcohol should not eat anything rubber or plastic if used in dilution. benzene that is used as a valve lube in unleaded petrol is far more corrosive a substance. i use diluted isopropyl for cleaning records.
aren't most dry fuel stuffs just parrafin/kerrosene? |
Re: How much Wynns Dry Fuel to use?
I'm reasonably sure without looking it up that Wynns/FST is just IPA anyway. I've got a 1999 curvy and never had carb icing, ride it all year round.

I thought Curvy's had carb heaters, don't they use coolant to keep em warm, also can't see icing being an issue while on the move.

They have carb heat but it's useless electrical variety.
Some people have problems some don't. But it definitely can be an issue. |
