Gearshift pattern for the SV650?

Hi all,

I am just wondering what the shift pattern is on the SV, is it 1,N,2,3,4,5,6 or N,1,2,3,4,5,6?

Just wondering!

Its because I will be using it in a kart, but I guess I will just need to remember to shift twice on the way up between 1st and 2nd lol

That's not how they work.

On the bike you wouldn't shift twice would you... The ratchet moves far enough 1>2 to skip neutral, you get neutral by pushing it up from 1st a little bit, if not careful it's easy to miss and get 2nd.

As YC has said, the force from 1st - 2nd you will skip neutral unless your wanting to find (N). Usually half click to Neutral.

Ah ok, thanks for the help guys, ive never ridden a bike, so am not used to the shifting etc I am correct that you can shift up without the clutch (if you let off the throttle) but need the clutch for downshifts?

Yep.

Or you can fit a quickshifter for the way up, then you don't need to back off :)

What does the quick shifter entail?
