Exhaust hanger advice (scorpion street)

1 Attachment(s)
I bought this exhaust for my bike knowing that due to it being a 04+ exhaust I would need to make my own bracket or make a tab to connect the bracket with the rear footrest. However due to be link pipe and exhaust being welded into place its already very sturdy. Just want to know if a exhaust hanger is essential or if running without one is possible?
Thanks

Generally speaking the can will spring about as you ride, this is a recipe for a cracked pipe. That said, the pipework itself is held at three widely spaced points, (both cylinders and the mount by the right footrest), and is thus quite rigid, therefore as long as it's a race can most of which are fairly light, rather than a silenced can which obviously will be much heavier, it will probably be OK.

Probably - keep an eye on it.

i would be tempted to make/buy a hanger bracket then make up a hanger plate and rivet/weld it to the can.

I was thinking about getting something like this?. the garage that fitted the exhaust said it won't need a hanger however having one may put my mind at rest

If the pic in the 1st post is your bike, you will also need the right-side pillion footrest to attach that strap to.
