How important is tyre balancing?
How important is it to balance tyres, i had new tyres put on and i dont feel a difference

Re: How important is tyre balancing?
Where they not balanced when the new tyres fitted? If the front is out of balance you will get a juddering at a certain speed.

Re: How important is tyre balancing?
Depends, if you get lucky and it's all within 10g or so you'd have to go quite fast to notice the imbalance. Even faster to notice the same imbalance at the rear wheel.
The reverse is also true, try riding a bike that 40-50g off at the front - horrible. |
People in the past have told me it doesn't matter especially on the rear. I call ******** to that and say it is important. Although I agree the front us more important

Re: How important is tyre balancing?
have been told by a motor cycle shop owner who fits tyres that suzuki rims are normaly well balanced and dont need balancing and as to the tyres as long as they are fitted properly with the red spot at the valve there is hardly a need to do them, dispite that i got him to balance them

Re: How important is tyre balancing?
Most rims are fine no matter what bike, a few grammes at most - it's tyres that are off.
The balance mark is usually put next to the valve, but even then it can be way off, if it is break the bead and spin the tyre half a turn on the rim and try again - often significantly reduces the weight needed. |
Re: How important is tyre balancing?
An experienced racer told me to balance the rim first then fit the tyre with the red dots to the heavy point.

Re: How important is tyre balancing?
Presumably if you find the heavy spot on the rim it apparently takes less weights to balance rim and tyre? We normally stick weights on with tape to start with so you do not end up with loads of weights stuck on.
