Oil on tyre!
OK i had a bit of a disaster yesterday, dropped my toolbox in the driveway, landing bang on top of a can of WD40. Said can split and squirted oil all over my rear tyre, I managed to boot it across the lawn before too much came out, but I wiped the tyre down and later on took her for a spin, all is well until I drop the hammer in a bend and she slithers about a bit, nothing too alarming but any suggestions of how to get oil off? short of riding till I've scrubbed enough rubber off, I'm a bit concerned that when the rubber gets hot I'll have an oil coated rear tyre!

Re: Oil on tyre!!!
just wash the tyre down with soap or car wash soap
WD40 is not an oil as such |
Re: Oil on tyre!!!
Yeah just spoke to a mate he said same, apparently soap breaks down oil? Cheers buddy!:D

Re: Oil on tyre!!!
yup it does if its quite a strong solution

Re: Oil on tyre!!!
The soap molecules tend to surround oils and fats and lock them in to be washedmaway. it does mean you need quite a lot of soap compared to the volume of oil.

Re: Oil on tyre!!!
Use fairy liquid.

I'd hate to see you panic when, mid ride out, you realise your Scottoiler* has dumped its entire contents over the back wheel...
 *other chain maintenance systems are available apparently. |
