Carb syncing fuel question.
So I am going to do the above this weekend, I have vacuum gauges and all that guff. There is one step I am a little unsure about according to the Haynes manual. It says to remove the fuel tap vacuum hose from the rear intake port (fine with that) and apply 1-2psi and clamp the pipe to keep the fuel valve open, does that mean suck or blow in the pipe, my brain tells me suck as the intake would do this when running would it not?
Is this job relatively straight forward, it seems to be and do I need to remove the tank or can I do it with it in situe? Cheers |

Re: Carb Syncing
I've always managed to do with with the fuel already in the carbs and lines before it conks out

Carb Syncing
Or put a tee in the vacuum line to the tap, then you've got a permanent take off point for balancing.

Yep, it's worth fitting a permanent take of on the front as well if you've got a Curvy as its a nightmare to get to. I'm pretty sure Bibio sells kits for this.

Re: Carb Syncing
Anyone know what size the vacuum hose is (I.e Internal and External Size) and how I add an extension to the front intake?

Re: Carb Syncing
I just added a bit of fuel line about 10 or 20cm long to the front vacum take off and blanked it off with a bolt. Works a treat. it pokes out by the radiator/coolant resevoir. I put bit of tube on the tank vacum and just give it a suck occasionally to fill the float bowls. You wont get fuel in your mouth because its just vacum working a diapragm. Obviously if you suck that pipe and get fuel in your mouth your diaphragm is faulty, but you would probably have running issues already if thats the case.
Any chance i could come around and use your guages sometime next month? Im only in oxford. |
Re: Carb Syncing
On how to add it, you probably need to take the carbs off to get to it but you might be able to get to it with just the airbox off. If i remember correctly i think the radiator being in the way is the biggest difficulty. Either way once you've done it next time will be a 5min job adjesting the carbs.
