K6 SV650 non runner after 3 months storage.

Hi, after having the motorcycle sat for 2-3 months unexpectedly it doesn't seem to fire up to well/not at all.

The tank was drained and the lines were, battery was put on charge on the day and it sounds like it wants to tick over -- struggles and just about fires up then cuts out instantly.

To me it sounds like fuel starvation, however the tank is full of new petrol when trying and I pumped the throttle a little bit before trying to fire it up with the ignition on.

Re: 2006 SV650 Problem!

OK,
1) For 2006 The bike is injected. When you turn the ignition on do you hear the fuel pump whine up and then stop?
2) Opening and closing the throttle with engine off will make no difference to moving fuel on this bike
3) Do you get any error messages on the dash when it is running or before it starts?
4) Did it work perfectly before being laid up?
5) Is it turning over strongly or only just managing to turn?

Check that the fuel line and all other connections to the tank are seated correctly.
That's the thing that you disturbed; before then it was running fine, so that is the most likely candidate.

if all else fails get someone to help you bump it (2nd gear and a good hill does come in handy), sometimes they need a bit of a hand if it works bike should be fine to start after a good run.

Mine (also a K6) had a bit of a sulk after sitting for a couple of weeks. Try full throttle while cranking .. that's what brought mine to life in the end. I have a suspicion that the fast idle was sticking and not setting properly.
