Holding the tank up? SV650.
Need to changer the plugs as part of the service not sure when they where last done, lifted the tank earlier today expecting to find a locking pin to hold the tank up! can anyone tell me if there is one or do I need to take the tank off? also if anyone knows the best way to get the the front that would be good as well.

Re: Changing the spark plugs SV650
There should be a tank prop stick under the pillion seat, unless a previous owner binned it.
Releasing the bottom of the radiator and propping forward,e.g. with piece of wood, gives just enough acces for the front plug. |
Re: Changing the spark plugs SV650
Thanks the last owner has binned it then the tool kit is also missing, will I have room to do the front with a standard plug socket?

Re: Changing the spark plugs SV650
Youll have to find something else to prop your tank up with , I had same issue and use a fisshing pole rest which is just the right length.
Depends on your tools. The plug is quite a long way down so youl likely need an extension piece between socket and ratchet. |
Re: Changing the spark plugs SV650
Did mine this afternoon. With the plug spanner from the tool kit it's a piece of cake. I also had to use something else to prop the tank but it's actually a very easy job and took about 20 minutes.

Re: Changing the spark plugs SV650
The tool kit is under the LH panel down low not under the seat. I thought I didn't have a tool kit for a long while until I found it one day. (press black button to open)
