anonbeep - Newby introduction
Hello everybody. I am newby anonbeep. I am 68 years old and just bought an sv650 Suzuki and now looking for some advice on everything biking. It is my first bike for 40 years!! First problem, I am five foot three and need to lower it cos can only just touch the ground. Also like to contact other bikers now in South Dorset. Nice to meet you all, beepsy.

Re: anonbeep - Newby introduction
Welcome, you can either get replacement links for the rear suspension to lower the back end or find a lowered seat.
Good luck with it. |

With the links you can get -40mm at the back end, I've no idea about how much more a lower seat will do. Probably an inch or two more.
What year bike is it? For replacing the links you need a way of supporting the back end of the bike which doesn't use the swing arm. As when you remove the links the swing arm goes all floppy!! But other than that there are just two bolts to undo, very easy. An abba stand or ratchet straps around a roof joist are just some ways of doing that. |

The bike is a 2000 Wreg sv650s. Whatever that is. Bought it on a whim from my friends girlfriend who has bought a brand new Triumph from Fowlers. It is well looked after 19,000 miles one owner job, new chain and sprockets. They did that. Family are bikers. Sorry I so slow not very good at this yet.

Re: anonbeep - Newby introduction
If it were me I'd try the seat first so that you don't affect the workings of the suspension
For example this seat would fit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-SV6...item1c398c900a Then if thats still not enough try a set of these, other ones are available with less reduction i.e. 20mm lower, search around: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-SV6...item1c34083142 |
