As a purely hypothetical question about frames - Pointy/Curvy swap?

I have been chatting to the wife and she thinks that I am mad for even considering this, but I have had an idea. As some of you may know I wanted to chuck some money into my bike and make it a little bit more special to me.

The plan is to sort the front end and get a new rear shock. However while perusing E-Bay for Gixxer front ends, I found a Curvy main frame with no sub frame or swing arm going for £25. I really like Curvy frames and with that thought came the ultimate heresy. Could I strip my pointy all the way down to its constituent parts and rebuild it with a Curvy frame, fitting my sub frame, tank, swing arm and plastics with out having to do any major alterations?

The wife says I should not bother because the pointy frame is prettier and it will require me learning a new number plate.

So what are your views then Folks? :smt119

A lot will fit, a lot won't - it isn't a straight bolt up job.

You would then no longer have a pointy and would not be able to have the number plate. However others have fitted some of the pointy plastics, but not sure of the tank. Either way it is a lot of hard work.

And you are correct, the curvy frame is the best looking.

Nudist did that. I'm sure there was a build thread on SV Rider.

He made a lovely job of that bike, but he didn't do it in an afternoon. :)

TamSV, thanks for sharing, that is one pretty bike. But a lot of work.

It seems to me that you are secretly yearning for a different bike - time for a change maybe?

No, but I would love to make my bike unique to me, I love building things and am something of a tinkerer. :smt023

If only Motorbikes were as easy to build as Technic Lego! :D
