Do this 1st then check the below thread about checking behind the sporocket cover & chain for stiff links, gunge etc...

No noises from that area of the engine before it happened?

No noises, I just washed and cleaned her, cleaned and lubed the chain. I'll give the link a try.

Thanks a lot

Unrelated to the clutch, do you find it moves between 1st, neutral and 2nd OK, but won't go up into 3rd?

If so, check the gear linkage is moving smoothly. Sometimes the gear lever gets road gunge and corrosion build up and so doesn't move smoothly on its pivot. This stops it moving back to the correct position after the gear change which prevents the next gear becoming available via the shift star.

The SV has either got a gear lever that pivots on the left foot peg mount, or on a separate pin below with a circlip holding it on, I forget which setup is used for a K7. If you unbolt the linkage that connects the lever to the gear selector shaft by the front sprocket (note that one of the threads is reversed) the lever should move up and down very freely, if there's any resistance and it sticks, it'll need a clean and grease.
