R6 Throttle Mod on Pointy

Throttle is sticky on my 2005 pointy so decided to try the R6 mod, anyone know what exactly I need to do and what year R6 I need it from.

I'll be doing the exact same thing on my latest purchase (Already did it on my track bike) so I'll be buying one of these: http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/y...es_pipe_-_oem/

You just need to compare it with your existing tube and cut some of the guide down.
If you hold the tube vertical in front of you with the "holes" for the cables closest to you, its the left hole which has some trimming required on its entry. Do it very careful and in small lumps as its very brittle!

I also recommend using some cut down tie wraps superglued into the throttle housing to act as a cable guide. I did have a photo but imageshack may have deleted it :(

Image isn't working, I found a few Youtube videos though so have a pretty good idea on what needs doing. Cheers.

Just added the "cable guides" to my throttle road bike housing, as I say just cut down cable ties superglued in place. Been like that on my trackbike for over two years with no issues.

I found it to be the only reliable way to stop the cable slipping off the cam.

Excuse my ignorance but what are the advantages of doing this?

Shorter twist to get to full throttle essentially, The SV has quite a lot of throttle travel to get to full whack, the R6 tube has a larger cable guide (I think) and that makes it quick action so to speak.

Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong but thats the general gist.

Ooo, sounds like a cool mod. I like these small easy mods, there should be a mods/tweaks section on this part of the forum
