help removing wheels?????
im having the rims polished on my k5 nakid to complement the spray job,but im new to the orld of bikes so i have a couple of question's  sorry :D
i have a paddock stand so the backs sorted, but how do i go about getting the front end up in the air? Is there any thing i need to know before i get to work?,or is quite straight forward? Cheers for any help guys  ill get some pics up when she's back together  |
Jack it up from under the engine block. Put a piece of wood between the jack and the block to prevent damage.
Loosen all the bolts first as it won't be very stable on a rear stand and jack. Some additional support would be good if you can rig it up.
cheers guys isn't the exhaust in the way if i use a jack?
No.Jack it from the near side under the sump with a block of wood to spread the load.
You could just get a front stand
guessing thats you? they any good?

Abba or NWS stand's better, and not much more than a front and rear stand... You've got to be fairly brave to take the front wheel off on a typical rear stand. Because the engine base is fairly far back, if you jack it under there you're too close to the centre of gravity for stability. If the rear wheel's off it's even less fun.
You also need a 17mm allen key on a socket to remove the front wheel.
