Bung installation query for dummies - Motosliders
Morning,
I've received a set of Motosliders crash bungs [complimets to them on swift delivery]. They've a long bar that runs the entire width of the engine. To insert said bar I need to remove a pair of bolts that run through the frame + engine. The bolts lie at the point where the upper and lower frame tubes are joined with an angled back tube, on curvy's at least. Can anyone tell me are these the main engine bolts and will I need to support the motor on a jack before I attempt to remove the bolts? Thanks for clearing up the doubts of a mechanical simpleton. |
No, the engine doesn't need supporting, its held in at several other points too :!:
Make sure you torque the new bolt up properly though :!: |

On a curvy you just remove one bolt for Nate's sliders- it's a very long stud with a nut on each end. And it'll be an absolute ****** to undo ;)

Mine were dead easy to fit (on a pointy)
Two sockets and ratchets helped though. Torqued up and used thread lock (hope that was ok) I got the bar end and swing arm sliders at the same time, they were a simple fit to. |

Make sure you follow the instructions and use loctite, my pops recently "tested" the bungs and one came loose when he dropped the bike.
We both though it wouldn't need the loctite as the bolt is a nylock one, but it does. :D |
