Dynojet Kit
 

Anyone fitted one of these to a sv650 or got any experience of them ?

Am told it's a good idea if you fit a k and n filter and free flowing exhaust but can't find info on them, just prices and where to buy them.

Oh well, maybe. Basically, yep, good idea if you want to fit a K&N. But I'd say don't bother doing either though- even set up perfectly (which means a trip to the dyno man at YPE, most likely) you're going to get a fairly small benefit from the K&N and kit. Certainly not £100 worth of benefit IMO, which is probably the minimum it'd cost you, for the filter, kit and dyno time. Even then, you can get 9/10 of the benefit with a couple of quid's worth of main jets, and otherwise using stock parts.

If you had a full system, and a desnorkelled filter or a BMC race RS, or K&N pods, then rejetting's essential and worthwhile though.

so if I get you right, you say -

"just go up a main jet size, and shut up ?" and that's to make sure it's not running too lean ......

Well, depends on exactly what you do. If it's a K&N and slipon, then yep, up a jet size, maybe up a notch or half a notch on the needles. If it's a slipon, it ought to be fine as stock really.

One of the nicest, easiest tests for the health of your engine is to cruise in 3rd or 4rth gear at 5000 revs, then crack the throttle open fast. If it hesitates before it takes off, you're probably needing bigger jets. It's hardly fullproof but it's the closest thing to a litmus test I can think of. Or give it to me to commute on for a month ;)

Ultimately, I reckon the smart thing to do no matter what you do is to pop it on a dyno afterwards, it's pretty cool anywya, not expensive, and gives you a bit of peace of mind. Mine's well overdue for it but every time it goes near a dyno a bit falls off :oops:

thanks for the advice. I appreciate it as I'm loving this sv and want to get the best from it, without it breaking down on me. Like the sound of a 700cc kit though :twisted:

where could i buy jets from ? the local dealer went into liquidation last week(alvins)
