Re: Swingarm damaged - advice needed!
I'd be asking the tyre fitters to sort out the mess they made.

I'm a mechanic and I did the exact same thing myself, Can't be helped sometimes. Note to Self...( should have put the other spanner on the other side of the axel, as nut tends to seize on the axel bolt and turn it...)Doh.](*,)

You say it cant be helped, but then go on to say how it would have been avoided? It was early I suppose :P David |
Re: Swingarm damaged - advice needed!
If the guy doesn't want you to go to a main dealer get a quote else were and see what he says then, you could always price up a new arm, add a bit for your labour and do it yourself and give him the bill.....

Re: Swingarm damaged - advice needed!
The mechanic needs to sort that out but I don't know of a cheap fix.
When I did that to mine I touched it up with a satin black touch-up paint but it won't blend like paintwork does. I think the swingarm is anodised. |
Re: Swingarm damaged - advice needed!
Note to anybody trying to un-do the rear axel on their own. Buy a couple of cheap small G clamps off the market and clamp each adjuster plate onto the swinger (without over tightening), before un-doing the axel nut. Prevents this damage.
