Bike Safe things, ok for insurance discounts?

Ello,

My insurance is up in about 2 weeks, looking around I can almost half my insurance quote if I had a garage. Do the bike safe style metal garages count to tick the "garaged" box with most insurers?

Looking at other bikes, a 1997 YZF750R would cost me £950 without a garage and only £400 with a garage :o and only 1 years ncb too. So with that style of bike I'd be able to get a bike safe garage and still have change.

I am not 100% sure what the bikesafe garages look like but in my experience a garage is usually a brick/concrete built fixed building. Anything erected out of sheet metal would proably be considered more of a shed....little help i know! :)

My mate's neighbour has a metal container (like those washed up on the beach, full of BMW bikes, etc. ;)) which he put on his drive and then "bricked in" with bricks. The 'garage' door is the only thing that gives away that it is a metal container. He keeps bikes in it, I imagine he declares it as a garage.

I'm going to email ebike insurance. They say it should be made of brick or concrete with a roof however email them with details of the garage and supplier as they may allow others.

They'll say no just to get more money out of you, i hate insurance companies, too many statistics out there for them to give you a reasonable quote.

Perhaps if insurance companies looked at us as individuals to start with and then looked at us as a statistic if something did go wrong!!

Why does everyone have to get a raw deal just because theres some ****s out there riding (and driving) like c0cks!

The adverts for these type of 'garages' usually state Thatcham Approved or insurance discount!! I guess the proof is in the pudding!

When I saw BikeSafe in the title, I thought it was about the BikeSafe Day with the local police. I did mine last year and this year on renewal I received 10% discount!

This website promotes the garage as being insurance approved.
