bike wont start very strange???
 

Hiya all im new to this site like 2 minutes ago and i really need ur help!!!

i was riding my 2001 sv650s yesterday and it was fine it is a really nice bike!!
started on the button as usual after doing about 15 miles i turned the bike off by the key 2 minutes later i turnd the ignition back on which it did, pulled in the clutch put up the stand and hit the starter butrton!!

all i got was a kinda spinnin sound have alot of power in battery just sounds like a spinnin wir and the engine wont fire i changed plugs like 300miles ago and as i say it has always started on the button??

could it be as simple as the starter motor??

would be very grateful 4 ur help as i have baby coming and could do without the expense of puttin it in garage as if it is starter motor its a quick fix....

Sonmetimes the carby bikes dont start so great. Have you tried giving it a whisper of throttle as you start? This helps with my 99 SV

Could be a starter motor, maybe the gears have sheard?

Someone will be along with a better, and more correct, answer

mine does that from time to time, i turn the lights of and turn the throttle half open as i press the button and she fires.

yh i tried all that openin the throttle slightly turned off everything tried agen nuthin ?? just sounds like a spinnin which i thought could have been the smotor threads have sheared it was very hot when i checked it just after it didnt start thanks 4 the input guys

Could be the battery i know you say its full, but the spinning sound is the starter, i charge my battery when i hear that for half an hour and it starts fine.

but 4 it 2 suddeny go after startin on the money every time and all the lights r on and its sounds as if the battery has a lot of power 2 it i dont think its the battery??? ill try it overnight btonight but 4 sum reason i think its the starter only because ive had 1 go on the car years back and kinda was the same just like 2 make sure??

Well maybe you left the parking lights on for once by hackcident.

If the battery has lost enough charge to do that after 15 miles I'd be looking at the charging circuit, and in particular the reg/rec.

You say its spinning at the starter but is the engine actually cranking over?
