Re: Petrol smell when cornering
As Mavizap has suggested, the drain tube from the filler well can leak. If you open the cap, at the front right of the well you will see a hole, this is a tube that runs right through and out of the... |

Re: The trackday thread.
A few of us were at Brands on the 19th, all our SVs tested OK static (GP circuit - 101db) but then Jambo pinged the meter on the drive by and was obliged to fit a baffle. |

Re: curvy died and wont start now!
Check the tank drain isn't blocked, if it is rainwater collects in the filler well and drops into the tank when you open the cap. |

Re: curvy died and wont start now!
Sounds very much like either fuel starvation or contamination. Drain the carb float bowls, it's not easy to get a container under the carb to collect the fuel such that it might be examined, but if... |

Re: Curvy rear caliper replacement
Nothing else is a straight fit, no. I haven't any doubt that there are any number of calipers that could be persuaded on, but any other caliper will be subject to the same corrosive circumstances... |

Re: Throttle pick-up jerky
Throttle bodies or carbs - balancing does exactly the same thing and by the same process. Curvies have TPS too, setting nowhere near as critical as FI bikes. Throttle transitions on SVs can be... |

Re: Spark plug change and arrow on lead
You can spin the rubber bung around on the plug cap if needed. |

Re: Curvy header issue
The pipe corrodes, expands and splits the collar - not unusual. As long as the bit of the head where the gasket seats is still (I've not seen one that isn't) it's fine - if unsightly. |

Re: Changing front master cylinder??
You can use a radial master cylinder from a GSXR, I tried one for a while and there's no question the brake action is different, but I wouldn't say it's better. The weak spot is the calipers, I'm... |

Re: Low fuel light switch output
Depending on exact year, there is either one or two level switches, which are thermistors whose resistances changes depending on whether they are submerged or not. There is no 'gauge' output, i.e. a... |

Re: Headlamp bulb fitting
As long as the electrical system is working correctly, it will carry the new bulbs just fine. |

Re: Headlamp bulb fitting
You don't need to remove anything. Turn the steering to one side, crouch down and you'll see the rubber cap and bulb connector, a torch may help. The notes you read for the Pointy are essentially the... |

Re: sv1000sk3 blowing main fuse
If it's only ever the main fuse that pops, check all the other fuses are the correct ones. If they are, then the fault is located in one of a few quite specific areas: Solenoid Black-red wire from... |

Re: Output Shaft Oil Seal
Is the seal a good fit in the case recess? What did you fit it with? It's very easy to distort the seal when fitting in this manner, only a weeny bit off and it will pee oil out in great abundance. ... |

Re: Front end problem after crash & repair
Take the forks off again, check forks are straight. If they are remove the top yoke and put the forks into the bottom yoke at approximately the right height - doesn't need to be exact - nip the lower... |

Re: Clutch cable on curvy.
Good tip, it's often worth looking around for parts from 'cousins'. I used to use Suzuki GSX550 clutch cables on my Kawasaki GT550, the fit was good, but they were much heavier and lasted better. |

Re: Calliper seals
Hugh! If the caliper is in good nick, sliding correctly, and not all gunged up, remove the rear caliper bolt and rotate the caliper forwards and you can remove the pads. If you're lucky you can... |

Re: Front end problem after crash & repair
Third pic of first post shows that spindle is displaced left - should be flush with fork lower. |

Re: Front end problem after crash & repair
Get better pictures of the spacer area and the spindle where it passes through the fork on both sides of the wheel. Are both discs equidistant from the fork slider? I suspect not. Itmisnt a fault... |
