The AL7 has a gear indicator fitted as standard and I find it's useful when you're not in a hurry - you glance down and realise you're not in top gear. Most of my bikes didn't have fuel gauges but once you've owned a bike with one, it's hard to imagine owning a bike without one, same for the gear indicator.
