Nah dont need any setting up just slot it on and away you go it is generaly considered that sv s run rich as in stock form so you can get away with an end can, although if you go for an airbox mod and a filter this may cause problems, not realy worth it anyway for what you gain.

+1 to above, end can is worth doing for the noise alone
![]() But don't expect power hikes really. People on here have spent far more than they'd like to admit and wrung out 15 or so ponies. Personally I don't think my buttock-dyno can detect differences of 10 or less horsies. It's been said a squillion times before but a quarter of the money spent on suspension rather than power will make for a notably better bike. Or spend four times as much on power and you get a fractionaly better bike. |

Do you have money burning a hole in your pocket? If so a race system, race air filter and power commander and some dyno time should see you with the biggest gains. On top of that you are talking 700cc bog bore kits ...
But you would have spent well over a grand at that point (a lot more if you go 700cc) and what for? 6 more hp (perhaps 15 more if big bored?)? If it were me I'd stick with it as it is (does it have a race can? .. that'll make it SOUND twice as fast!! ![]() ![]() |

Sv's or at least curvys have a flat spot mid rev range with a standard can, sticking on a better can normally gets rid of it!
I've had 2 sv's now and really noticed this. |

Suspension is the first mod, why more power if the bike doesn't handle right??? For power you will be looking at a decent full system, filter and a Power Commander at the minimum. Improving the handling will cost a fraction of this, you won't get huge hikes in power either mind!!!
As 'Blue SV650S' mentioned about big bores, I haven't seen a Pointy one yet! |
