Default New Engine

Hi there, what do people think of this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LOOK-EXCELLENT...d=p3286.c0.m14

Sure the exhaust is a bit rusty but I reckon I could polish it up fine.

Otherwise, there's this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Suzuki-SV650-S...QQcmdZViewItem
which has a funky gearbox - but the gearbox on my broken engine works great!

What do people think? Thanks for any and all input.

I've recently swapped a gearbox out. It's quite involved but nothing too complicated so long as yo're methodical and don't mind getting pi$$ wet through with oil.

However you might not need to; "not smooth" could be a lot of things including the shift star, detent arm and even the grease on the the gear lever pivot.

+1 ther the gear box problem could be down 2 some of the things that YC said.

Yeah I reckon maybe going for either of them- I'd rather have the one with the 'dodgy' box as I have a spare, haha

The one with the dodgy box is too expensive for one with an undiagnosed fault, if he'll drop the price then that's grand but remember you'll spend good money on the gaskets needed if you split the cases (which you'll probably have to, if the gearbox actually is knackered and it's not just idiocy from the last buyer, which it might be).

80 quid for gasket set and it's a 3 layer head gasket not a copper one, so you can't just bang it in the oven then reuse it

Both Sarju and Myself have previously bought engines (and other bits) off the first company motorcycle_recycle. There a small breakers who deal with bikes only.

They even gave me a hand putting the engine into the back of the van.

Either engine sound good, its just a shame you can't get proof of exact mileage for either as they are now removed. As Northy said the dodgy box is a bit overpriced, maybe the guy knows whats wrong and has found its cheaper to replace the engine, you never know the truth halve the time!

The first one seems good, they have been selling parts from that bike for a while now so it is a consistent seller.

Diagnose you gear box problem a little better on here and we might be able to tell you whats wrong, could be considerable cheaper the 199 pound too.
