University test
A first year uni maths test. I'd be intrigued to see which course/uni it was from.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/6589301.stm I remember two economics student I lived with who needed my help to calculate an average.  I bet that's not even slightly difficult for any engineer tbh.

English one is easy,
know Pythagoras :- hypotenuse squared = sum of the other two sides squared area = half base*height tan of an angle = Opposite / Adjacent all without google and 27 years since I was at uni

OK add another 5 years 32 years since my 'O' Level Maths.
TBH, the way degrees are rumoured to have been dumbed down, I am not surprised that this may have been an entry question
