under slightly heavy braking the front end seems to make a clunking noise and feels a bit off - mainly occurs when gearing down and using the front brake
is this normal or is something up? its going in for its first service on friday so any ideas would be welcome |

Sounds like either the head bearings being loose or your wheel bearings are shot. Make sure you mention it when you get it serviced!

my [pointy does it and so did my previous curvy, Had steve jordan look at both and he reckons they all do it, his missus who races mini-twins also reckons they all do it, had ohlins springs fitted to mine with stiffer oil and it still does it, it even knocks slightly when depressing the forks at stand-still, if the jordans dont know what it is i guess nobody does.... have to say htough that its never affected the handling or braking of mine on road or track, someone told me its the mudguard flexing, but cant be bothered to take it off to prove it !!
p.s get the ohlins fork mod done (about £100 if you take it in) absolutely transforms it ! |

good point that, mine is an 05 and has always done it. It doesnt affect the bikes handling in anyway brake discs are ok head bearings are fine and it is just when i go over pot holes or something alike.

I find that with the floating discs on these bikes they can chatter when cold, also if your front pads are quite worn the calipers can seem like they are loose. Remember the discs should be able to move a small amount on their mounts.
As for the head bearings I will check mine tomorrow, just want to be sure my clonking is not something serious. Good comments on this thread, cheers. |
