I've owned my SV for 3 months now and love it
![]() I'm sure its not me stalling it by accident as it just dies...it doesnt jolt forward or anything. It's done it with the fuel light off aswell so lack of fuel can't be the answer. The engine has always been at normal temperature too so its not a cold engine. Also its when I'm in traffic, so it's not the sidestand safety feature ![]() Help!!! |

idle speed set too low? does it just die when you open the throttle?

Yeah...throttle on a little bit, clutch out as normal and it just dies. It doesn't do it all the time, but it's done it 3-4 times this past month. It idles at around 1000-1200 ish.

Give it more beans when your pulling away. Often stall mine if I'm too lazy on the pull away!

Not an easy bike to stall though, 1st gear is pretty short and the engine chugs with enough oomph to virtually let you pull away with no throttle input at all if you're gentle with the clutch lever.
I'd say it could be the idle speed, possibly, but I assume it won't cut out if you just go to blip the throttle in the same way with the clutch in or bike in neutral? Maybe check your clutch lever adjustment. If the biting point has moved closer to the bar you may be engaging the clutch much earlier than you were before, which would make it easier to stall if you didn't notice it. |

Mine occasionally cuts out when I blip the throttle, again, nothing to worry bout!
